ABOUT STEPHEN

Stephen Martin has enjoyed operatic engagements spanning throughout Italy, China, and the United States with roles including Alfredo in La Traviata, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème, Hoffmann in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann and many more. He also created the role of Ray "Cracker" Schalk in the 2019 world premiere of Joel Puckett's "The Fix" and has performed with companies such as The Santa Fe Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival Opera, Sarasota Opera, Minnesota Opera, Opera in the Rock, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony, Rutgers Symphony, Flint Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Symphony, and others. He served for two years as Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Central Arkansas and is now the Director of Music and Fine Arts at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.

Stephen has served as an active clinician and conductor, sharing the podium with Dr. David Rayl in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria, was guest conductor with the Montgomery Choral Society, and was the invited clinician and conductor with the SBISD combined boys middle-school and high-school choirs.

Stephen recently lead his choir and orchestra in a performance of Heather Sorenson's Requiem at Davide Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in NYC
